Bebe Bird Meets Brooklyn Bike Park-RAD

Growing up there were a handful of movies my brothers and I adored & would watch over & over & over again-like Grease, Star Wars, The Boy Who Could Fly & Teen Wolf.  But a fan favorite in the Keating household was RAD, a movie about a BMX bike rider doing these incredible stunts that blew our minds every. single. time. And after the movie would finish we would inevitably run outside, hop on our own bikes and reenact the movie (& the stunts) impressing each other.

This past weekend Papa, Bebe Bird & I stumbled across Brooklyn Bike Park in Williamsburg when attempting to hit up Kara Walker's art show in the Domino Sugar Factory.  The Brooklyn Bike Park is everything that make up a dirt bike lovers wildest dreams.  Created by Ride Brooklyn bike shop & New York City Mountain Bike Association in July of 2013. Brooklyn Bike Park is free, family friendly & designed for cyclists of all levels. They even have free helmets & bikes for all riders.  You can, but don't have to "BYOB" (bring your own bike).

Our adventure loving toddler begged to be released from the side lines & get in on the action.  Papa & I reluctantly agreed, giving him free range to ride around the path circling the dirt track. As we watched and smiled he rode.  Then he veers off, feeling brave, & into the track itself.  We watch with baited breath as he moves up and over his first jump.  Exhale we breath as he clears the jump, then his second, then his third, then…. over & over & over again. Our 3 year old rode next to the big kids with the big kids.  And he was proud.  So were we.  After two hours of riding he turns to his tired parents & asks "Can I stay here a longer time?  Can I stay here too long?"

The below clip is of Bebe Bird living the dream of mine & my siblings childhood selves.  It's totally RAD.  This one's for you Boys!  I <3 You Guys!
