You see, McDonalds was never (I mean NEVER) on my radar of places to take Bebe Bird. Living in Brooklyn, and for that matter, Park Slope I can't even tell you where a McDonalds is. Do they still exits? Yet, while in Mexico, visiting my brother, who was transferred to a new hospital-which resulted in a new neighborhood that's playground facilities consisted of a broken swing and a see-saw bent in half I knew I needed to find an outlet where Bebe Bird could spread his wings and play. It was the two golden arches that beckoned us to their door, enticing us with it's McDonalds aroma of salty french fries and colorful tubes where children could be seen laughing and having fun. Fun! I made a bee line for it. I bought Bebe Bird his first Happy Meal (it was the toy that sold me) and I judged the people eating the food I was about to feed my son! "Didn't they see Super Size Me?" I wondered, questioning their choice in food consumption. Then I realized, I, too, ate at McDonalds as a kid. Gasp! And I'm still standing. Phew! I met Ronald. Yeah! And, I loved their chicken McNuggets! I mean loved! So much so that I wanted to marry one. And I did. I married a chicken Mcnugget. My older sister conducted the ceremony. But the fairy tale ended, it had to. She informed me that chicken McNuggets were actual
But for Bebe Bird, it had only just begun. And I can't be totally sure, because he's only 1.5 years old, but when leaving Micky D's I could have sworn I had overheard him sign "Bada Ba Ba Baaaaa, I'm lovin' it!"
I really ADORE this blog!! I can't wait to read more of your posts!!! Hugs & Kisses, H
