A photo from my journal entry that day-Bebe Bird had his first sleep over away from home

Spring time in Brooklyn has arrived.  The sun warmer.  Happier.  There is a soft breeze that tickles our skin as a gentle reminder that winter has passed.  Flowers are coming up from the earth as evidence of new life.  And the leaves? Oh the leaves!  The sit newly bloomed on the trees, busy showing off- dancing this way and that to the beat of the city.

Bebe Bird & Nina B.  Brooklyn babes & Cousins- only 8 months apart to the day! Lucky to have one another !!!

Spring time-a celebration!  A season when baby chicks begin inching out of their shells and into the great wide world.  It seems fitting than that it was the first day of Spring when Bebe Bird hatched out of the comfort of sleeping in our little nest with Papa & I to attend to his first Big Boy milestone alone.  On that first day of spring he demanded a sleepover, his first sleep over!  The event was to be had at his cousin & best gal pal, Nina Birds, home (only a few miles from us).  When he was ready to leave our nest & spend the night at another he stood both boldly & confidently at the foot of my brother declaring "I'm a big boy now!  I can do it!  I'm a big boy now!"  And he is.  So we did. I woke multiple times that evening checking & rechecking my phone for messages of any indication that Bebe Bird did in fact need us & would in fact need to come home to the comfort of his own nest.  I worried-does he need us to come get him?  Does he miss us? Is he sleeping?  My phone remained silent as the clock ticked and morning arrived with the chirping of the birds greeting the dawn of a new day.  And Bebe Bird slept soundly.  He did it!  Enjoying all the perks that come with sleep overs like eating a delicious bowl of vanilla ice cream, staying up late, watching a favorite movie & laughing with his best friend late into the evening.  It was brilliant.  It was liberating & everyone was so so proud especially Bebe Bird who now had evidence that he was a boy who could do BIG things, like sleep overs.  A big boy!
