3 years ago- I held you for the first time. You were alert, strong & full of curiosity. I gently hugged you close & softly kissed your forehead. I can't believe he's ours, I thought. I was exhausted but so high on life. "How lucky are we?!?!" I'd say to Papa, his eyes smiling as if in agreement. On Sunday, 3 years to that day, you climbed into my lap and assumed that familiar position in my arms and fell asleep. I held you, now a toddler, alert, strong & curious. You were exhausted but so high on life, after a fun filled day of celebration. I gently hugged you close & softly kissed your forehead. I can't believe he's ours, I thought. "How lucky are we?" I say to Papa as our child slept in my arms. He looked at me with smiling eyes as if in agreement....
