On Sunday, Powerhouse on 8th, one of our favorite local book shops hosted a reading with illustrator Lauren Castillo from her newest book City Cat, by Kate Banks. This wonderful children's book tells the story of a stray cat who stows away in a families luggage and follows them on their European vacation. This beautiful interactive book includes imagery from various famous landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe in Paris & the Gondola's of Venice, to the Changing the Guard in London. Every page provides the children the opportunity to search for the City Cat and the flag from the country of origin that the cat is currently visiting. City Cat is a wonderful introduction for little ones on the existence of other countries and cultures and the beauty of traveling. We simply love this playful story!
And we also love Lauren Castillo (who, by the way, got to travel to Europe for the books research-totally cool) for being so patient with the talkative Bebe Bird sitting front and center during Castillo's reading of City Cat. Throughout the reading Bebe Bird kept pointing to the book saying "Tha's the dat right dere. He's on de boat..." To order you copy of City Cat click here .
