The Kingdom of Two

It has been 20 days and counting since crossing the threshold into The Kingdom of Two.  It is, in every sense, a magical Kingdom both glorious and terrifying.  There are bright colors, curious minds, finger paints and words! Lot's of words.  The Kingdom of Two is filled with smiling eyes and generous "I love you's!" It is decked to the nines with train tracks, match box cars and duplos (legos little bro) There are middle of the night requests for "Choo-choo gains?" "Aqua?"& "Banana's?" that rarely get eaten at such an hour but always a necessary request.  Always!  Sometimes, in the waking hour when the sun peaks in through the tall windows you may say to your partner "Watch out there's a banana somewhere in the bed..." You will overhear appeals for more "Muno cake?" or a request for your "Hand?" so you can "Jump!" which, really means dancing around in a circle.  The ABC song is currently the number one single inside The Kingdom of Two followed closely by The Wheels on the Bus sung in Spanish, which personally I don't know very well but sign it with heart anyway.

You will discover a plethora of  "Gracias Mama's!","Yummy" & "No's!"-that can simply be translated to "I want that toy" or "Get that food away from me. I can't be any clearer." Exhale!  But the magic still lives- when all is quiet and you overhear a little voice tell the big cat "I lub you!"

You spend countless times recording milestones that take place within the Kingdom of Two-making a mental note to remember this moment.  When first sentences are constructed like-"I kissed Ollie cat" or requests for "Pancakes?"with big brown eyes looking up at you eagerly waiting for your response-delighted & relieved once you agree to the specific meal time requests.  The Kingdom of Two is not a fancy Kingdom by any means.  There are tears and tantrums that accompany the royalty.  Such outbursts often occur when you least expect it.  You might find yourself looking over to a friend or two saying "This is so crazy right?"as you wrangle up the royalty who decides to go limp &"boneless" as you put on their jacket.  There are daredevil stunts as limits are learned and new boundaries discovered. Skateboards are ridden like surf boards, skooters like cruisers and playgrounds are scaled.  The Kingdom of Two is full of growing confidence.  It's a wondrous Kingdom.  And there is no place in the world I'd rather be then being with he in The Kingdom of Two!
